Hi, yesterday I dropped my phone while charging, a pretty small distance (about the height of a bed), however, it landed on the back and made a weird sound. I picked it up, everything was fine except the home button was irresponsive. I turned it off and then entered an infinite loading screen boot. Tried to update it and restore it several times on itunes and finally it restored. Since last night it has been restoring my icloud backup. I don’t know if either the button or the restoring is making my device overheat when charging. Any ideas what might be the issue?
It sounds like the drop caused some damage. You don’t really say where the heat is being generated though. Is it local to the Home Button or just the screen in general? Heating issues are usually the cameras, the Home Button or the housing (caused by the charging circuit). You could diagnose this by disconnecting one component flex at a time (always disconnect the battery before every change) until you figure it out. It could be component related (i.e. a bad camera or sensor) or it could be logic board related (requires micro-soldering).
