Chosen Solution
Thanks in advance. I have macbook a1342, and it appears that maybe the num lock function is off (although 0 works). The number keys 1-9 suddenly stopped working (mid session). I stupidly restarted my computer hoping it would help, forgetting my password has numbers in it. Ugh. I’ve tried a few solutions but none have worked and its hard to search on my phone. I tried the suggested fn+f6 as well as hitting option 5 times in a row, but neither worked. Thanks for any help!
Carrie - Replacing the keyboard is a big job in this model as it’s part of the upper case. Here’s the steps to replace the case iFixIt Guide. Once you have it off you might be able to clean what ever got spilled (if that) by taking the keyboard apart. If you think this is to big a job for you to tackle I would bring it into an Apple Store and let them do it.
