So recently my old dual shock (the original that came with the system) controller has stopped charging entirely. And I mean entirely, I’ve tried different usb cords to different power outlets ( be it my actual ps4, wall outlet, PC, etc.) and even went and got a new wireless charging station, nothing has been working. So I went and bought a new controller thinking that would be the end of it, sadly it wasn’t. Despite fully charging on the usb connected to my PlayStation it won’t actually connect and will not even appear in the devices menu. My old one only has enough of a charge to last roughly 2 seconds before it shuts off again so it is not helping me in that situation either. I’ve tried almost every hack I’ve come across but no luck. Any ideas?
So 1st controller: Looks like you need to replace the battery. It’s not difficult to replace it and a new battery is not expensive. 2nd controller: Does the 1st controller connect ? And you have warranty on the 2nd one right? Perhaps there is something wrong with the controller. If both controllers will not connect to the PS4, check with another controller (one which is working for sure), if this one won’t connect, looks like there is something wrong with the blue-tooth IC on the PS4. Sadly it’s soldered directly on the motherboard… But let’s test the other options first. If you replace the battery of controller number 1, you can test straight away. It’s on sale here on iFixit, depends on where you live offcourse (USA shop or EU shop). Hope this helps.
