Trouble with ps3 phat as it won’t initially start when I press button. Then after many attempts & lots of patience it starts only to switch off prior to getting to where I can use the controller to confirm screen question to boot. Then when I play a game it just switches off for no apparent reason! YLOD intermittently appears but does not seem to be the over riding problem. Fan is always on but getting hot has never really caused any gameplay issues. Do you need clarification or further info from me? I have always been able to get console working but now it is not even possible to press the start button & start it. Thankyou for any advice you may provide.
Impending sign of doom, Sony style anyway. Power supply or, worse case scenario, solder joints under main processor have gone. All the old wives tales like flux round the processor then a hair dryer for 30 minutes sometimes worked but would nigh on fail immediately. If you have access to another power supply try that first. If not you could always try and reflow the processor or find someone with hot air equipment and experience to try. Just thought, has it ever been opened before? If not the thermal paste will be none existent. Try fresh paste first.
