Chosen Solution
Hi guys, I opened up an iPad mini 3 to replace the charging port and I tried to solder off the charging port, but one of the pads came off when I did this. (as seen in the picture). I didn’t apply enough heat :( I was wondering do I need to repair it or can I solder a new charging port connector on as normal. If do need to repair it, how do I go about it ? Thanks in advance. CK
Here is the boardview for this device. The missing pad is connected to an IC so ideally it should be repaired. However, it is also connected to an adjacent pad so you may not need to. It’s not a big job so I would do it just to be certain.
