My old (2006; now 2022) Samsung ML-2010 did not come back on after a power outage. The LEDs were flashing alternately: “On Line / Error” flashed red and “Toner Save” flashed green. There was a motor running continuously inside.
Answering my own question about a “dead” ML-2010: The cause was a bad power supply capacitor (1500 uF, 10 V, 10mm dia, 20 mm tall) that was obviously “puffy”. This is the easiest printer to work on that I have ever seen. I took out the paper and closed the front flap so I could lay the unit on it’s front. There is a cover on the back with a screw at each side (near AC inlet and near USB port). Just take out those 2 screws and pop the cover off. The bad capacitor was near the top, middle of the power supply board. Disconnect the 2 cables, remove 5 screws (2 sizes–keep track), open the top cover (to release the microswitch interlock) and push the paper tray sense lever (at the bottom–it flags an optical sensor on the board) then lift the board out. I unsoldered the old capacitor and soldered in a new one, put it all back together and it works great again!
