I have a 2nd gen nano that works only when connected to charger or when connected on USB . As soon as cable is discConnected it switches off & does not turn on. I think it is anbattery issue but I’m unsure. How can I confirm if it is a battery or motherboard issue.
You really can’t make that determination unless you have the apple cable to test that. In this case I would change the battery. Since it works when it is plugged into an external power source, it is most likely the root of your problem. Good Luck iPod Nano 2nd Generation Battery Replacement
