Solved Optical Drive Appears To Be Out Of Line With Disc Slot Macbook Core 2 Duo

I’ve got a MacBook that the optical drive was removed from to replace the screen and motherboard. I was able to get a disc in and it reads plays fine, but upon ejecting, the top white part of the case is bent out which pushes the disc back in. I’ve taken apart multiple times but can’t seem to see what appears to be pushing the drive up so that it won’t eject properly. Any suggestions on what to look for?

I’ve had this happen and it was something about the seating of the edge of the drive in the back against the wall closest to the screen. My apologies for the vagueness but I can’t remember exactly the cause but once you seat it correctly it feels right.

The drive bezel between the drive and case on the A1181 warps easily. It’s an aluminum strip that screws to the frame right in front of the drive opening. I would try and confirm if it’s hanging up on this, or the actual plastic case. If the bezel is warped, you can either replace it or try to bend it back straight.
