Chosen Solution
I replaced the optical drive using the iFixit instructions and they were excellent. Upon using the drive, it works fine but makes noise like it is spinning out of level or something catching in the reading/writing process. The higher the speed of spinning the less noise.
If it’s not a new unit it could be getting ready to fail. Ensure that all the proper screws, pads, spacers were replaced in the proper places, & not over tightened. If this Answer is helpful please remember to return and mark it Accepted.
