My laptop started shutting off when in use and wouldn’t turn back on until it cooled down. I put my small desk fan in front of it to see if that would keep it cool enough to stay on and It Worked! So my assumption is, replace the cooling fan, right? I’ve never opened one up before but I am very “handy with home repairs”. Even so, would prefer to have a guide for this if possible. Oh, and maybe a screen replacement too since this one is cracked.
Can you tell if your laptop’s fan is spinning at all? If not, you may need to replace. If it does spin, you might try blowing the dust out of your laptop with an air hose. Accumulated dust can cause overheating. Don’t overdo it though, I’ve broken a fan before from the airflow being too strong. And/or download a program SpeedFan to give you better control over your fan speed.
