Chosen Solution
one day a couPle weeks ago my P key stoPed working and i have tryed to use different keyboards uPdat drivers and i just can figure it out
Strange thing is I found the solution by accident….I was pressing the ‘s’’ key trying to get it to work and it displayed a snapshot on screen, to cut a long story short a program game capture by elgato had the ‘s’ key assigned to snapshot, so wouldn’t work if the program wasn’t running…..so just removed the shortcut…..so suggestion is to try I save mode, use task manager to close all running tasks…..se if it works then…..or try booting into troubleshooting mode, hold Shift while rebooting ( I think that’s how ) & Open a cmd prompt and try typing ‘p’ in there……good luck
A bit more detail would help us round here. Firstly, is this a laptop keyboard, or a separate (wired or wireless) keyboard? If its a separate keyboard, does it work with a different computer? So lower case p doesn’t work. So you get P if your press shift-p? Does it make a difference whether you use the left or right shift key? And CapsLock p gives P? And does CapsLock shift-P give p? Certainly very weird as you’ve described it. Could it be a software problem? Does p work correctly in a pre-boot environment, e.g. if you go into the BIOS and find a text field you can type in?
