I replace the battery with a new ifixit battery but when starting the phone the passcode no longer works. I switched to the original battery and it works fine. I plan to change the settings so there is no password and try again but it seems like the device knows it is not a apple battery. Any work around or solutions. I will try to reseat the new battery one more time.
I reinstalled the old battery and the phone booted up fine. I contacted customer service and it sounds like the new battery is defective. They are sending a new one. I will try again and post what happens.
same exact thing. I was convinced I’d broken the connectors inside & got the over-temp warning because of that. anyway, the phone boots just fine (apart from the temp warning), finds 4G & wifi, but only offers emergency calls. full restore from itunes made no difference. I will try the old battery again, though I can’t leave it in the phone because it’s swollen & has already caused the display to delaminate. how the !&&* does it know it’s a replacement battery? dear god, this is worse than epson & their printer cartridges that cost more than a new printer! :-/
