Hi guys, I got this problem with my tv, when I power the tv on the logo appears for 2-3 seconds and then it’s all black. The sound is still there, the ambilight reacts normal, but no image. What could this be? I know a part of the LED strip is broken and I already bought a new strip, but I don’t know if this would fix it because my other Samsung TV had a defective LED strip to but still had a picture. I also couldn’t find any bulged capacitor or anything. The only difference with these tv’s are the Samsung is direct-LED and the Philips edgelit. Model is: 42PFL6678k/12 EDIT: Picture and video

Update (11/07/2017) I got the tv working again, but the light doesn’t cover the whole screen?!? Now i’m stuck with what to do, because I already replaced the tcon board and led strip.

@jellealgra you already have it solved:-) “I know a part of the LED strip is broken " this will most like prevent the rest of them to come on. This is a Philips not a Samsung. Everybody does it a bit difference. You cannot rule out a bad backlight until you have replaced that. You said you checked the boards. Did you have a chance to check all the fuses as well as the T-con board. Post some images of all of your boards with your question. That would allow us to see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that.“Not much you can do to these tvs today” is wrong. You can change each and every single board on these which you could have never done on a CRT. This is fixable, so repair what you know is already broken and then re-evaluate and let us know. Keep repairing, not replacing!

I had the same probl with a phillips43” Lcd. I bought it at walmart. I called customer service with asurion. They had me cycle the tv a few times . They had me send the set in for repair. Not much you can do to these tvs today. They either work, oe they need to be replaced. If your set is under a month old and purchased at walmart. Go online and insure it with asurion. The refunded the price of the set plus tax. I then added a few more bucks bit upgreaded frpm a 43"to 55" with a new ploicy. Now when this tv goes, I will upgrade to a 65".
