I’m fixing an iPhone 8+ for a friend. The phone wouldn’t turn on so I checked the charging and saw it wasn’t receiving a charge at all so I went to replace the battery. While replacing the battery I ripped the wireless charging but deiced to try the new battery anyways (without putting the new adhesive on) to see if it fixed the problem. The phone still won’t turn on but takes a charge but this time gets really hot around the middle left of the screen. Is the phone toast or something I can still do to salvage it
You’re going to want to consult with a board repair specialist on this one. Excess heat is a telltale sign of a short somewhere and when there’s a short, especially before you prompt the phone to boot (meaning hold the power button to turn it on) it won’t turn on. iPad Rehab and STS Telecom are experts when it comes to board repair and they both have youtube channels you can check out.
