Chosen Solution
The area you circled pretty much corresponds to the upper connector area (the connectors for the screen assembly). However, it is also directly above the CPU, which is covered by a metallic shield and itself covered with a black tape and a thicker black “cushion”, for lack of a better term. Take a look at this guide and click on the main picture to enlarge and you will see this very clearly. If the heat you feel is definitely in the area you circled, then I would check the connectors to insure they are properly seated and aligned. If the heat is a bit lower, then it is more CPU related.
