hi hello everyone, im from holland and found youre site on google my boyfriend let his iphone slip out of his pocked and id slided on the snow/ice next to the road in a sewer/well it layed there for 2 hours cuz we could not get it out until we used a rake. (he was really upset as u can imagine) when out of the water we emidiatly let is drip out of water in a towel on the heating (not to extremely hot ofcourse) and it still does not work, 2days later when no water was coming out or visable i opened it up like the manuel here and noten to see but the pink stickers and some rusty spots on the back side of the logic board now 5 days later letting it dry would you think ik could work again? (srry for the long story) hope you can help :) thanks Iris Update (01/17/2011) hello just to update you since the question i asked u, ive let the phone just dry on a shelf, and ik got curious what was inside, my boyfriend sayd i will blow it up cus i will never work again but i would not let him. so i decided to plug it in the pc my pc with no itunes sayd new hardware found but noting happend futher i could not instal the stearingprogram, on my other pc with itunes nothing happned also, so i wanted to take it apart, but now totaly found sand, dirt and rusty places around logic board and other things, also alot of the orange datacable things let loose and were dirty, i can take the silver plates of the logic board an see whats under there but i think the phone really really died
First of let it thoroughly dry out. Disconnect the battery. Clean the logic board with isopropyl alcohol Once the phone is dry and clean out i would start with replacing the battery. Than check what works. Most of the damage could be to the LCD and/or the logic board. But make sure that it is clean and dry before you do anything else. also do another visual check to see if you find any obvious damage. the corrosion is hopefully just superficial brought on by the drying over heat without removing the liquid.
