Recently, I repaired a customer’s iPhone SE 2020 screen. Everything went as usual and I had it done and back to her fairly quickly. However, upon returning the phone she notified me that the phone was now saying the battery can’t be verified as an original Apple battery. I can confirm, however, that it is the original battery as the phone had never been repaired before. The phone is also not taking a charge. When the phone is connected, it chimes but doesn’t show the lightning bolt in the top corner, and it says 0%. I connected the battery to my QianLi iCopy to see if it could read the battery, and it just says connected, it doesn’t show any data about the battery. I have a spare iPhone 8 battery in stock that I swapped it with to no avail. I tried a new charging port that I ordered for her, still no success. I’m assuming it’s something with the board, but I don’t know what. I took an eye loop to it and everything appeared to be in tact.
The battery for the 8 cannot be used in the new SE as they’re not the same. The screens and other components are interchangeable but the batteries are not. Anyways in some cases the battery gas gauge can get knocked off which is located right by the battery connector. I would inspect that area to make sure that wasn’t damaged. If it has been you can send it to a board repair specialist like iPad Rehab, STS Telecom, Rossmann Repair, or VCC Board Repair. All of them have youtube channels you can check out and I personally use VCC quite often for repairs I can’t handle or don’t offer in my shop.
