Chosen Solution
I accidentally dropped my charger cable on my iPhone 6 which caused the screen to crack and go dark blue then black and now it’s totally unresponsive. I’m currently on holiday in France and I took the phone to a repair shop but the repairman said there was “no solution”. I’m just confused because the crack isn’t that big and yet it’s caused the entire phone to switch down. I’ve broken the screen before (I replaced the screen and the battery after this happened) but the phone still worked as normal as it was just the screen that was cracked. I’ve temporarily transferred my SIM card to my brother’s phone to use for the rest of the holiday (he uses his iPad more frequently) but I can’t set up my Apple ID on it since it’s his phone so as far as I know, all my data, text / WhatsApp messages, contacts, notes, photos, apps, music etc. are gone. I’m going back to the UK in six days and I will take the phone to a repair shop in my home town to see whether it can be fixed there but I’m just desperate to know now whether the phone is recoverable. I have so many things of sentimental value stored on that phone and it hurts to know that it could be gone forever.
I wouldn’t be overly concerned, most shops do replacements of screens, batteries and smaller parts but when it gets to more complicated issues they often say it can’t be fixed or that the motherboard is “burnt” because that’s their level of skill. You could see that as a family doctor who can’t do a heart surgery..it doesn’t mean it can’t be done at all. A bumped phone, especially if repeatedly grounded, may have issues sooner or later, but usually all recoverable, it just depends on the time and work needed and in the end it’s just a matter of money involved. I’m confident if you care for data you’ll be able to get them back.
