Phone turns off at about 95% can turn back on but once on lock screen will turn off again, gets hot when using it on the charger, have had it apart previously- any ideas?

The part where it’s getting hot is normal as it is constantly rebooting. The battery will need to be replaced. You have a few options on getting a battery replacement, either by:

  • Doing it yourself (DIY).
  • Taking it to a mobile phone repair shop.
  • Taking it to the apple store (booking a genius bar appointment). Guide to replace the battery: How to replace the battery in your iPhone 5s You can buy a replacement battery from iFixit here: iPhone 5s Battery

Though it could be an off chance but it is possible because it has happened with me on a 5s. I was to replaced the charging port of a 5s but in the process of disconnecting the battery, I accidentally broke off a few very small components that I believe were called the F11 capacitor that would be responsible for the charge and how the phone handle its battery life. The phone would die with a charge and being on the charger and would get hot. Look around the battery connection and see if you see any small, and I mean small, round objects just rolling around or been broken off.
