My LG Rumor isn’t charging and I believe the connectors are to blame. My wife has same phone that charges fine with the same charger. I did notice that when I plug the charger in to my phone and put something heavy on it, the phone will charge. Is there a way to replace the port where the charger plugs in? How hard would it be to do this?

Sounds like either the cable/connector on the charger is faulty or the connector/socket on the phone is damaged Try a different charger and see if it works OK. Replacing the connector on the phone while possible is likely, you’d probably need to pull the main board out to do this. Getting a suitable replacement may not be easy either!

it’s pocket lint! same thing happened to my iphone 5, got worse and worse until i had to torque the charger at such an angle and with such force that it would only charge if i put 3 dictionaries on top of my phone to hold the cable tension. went into an apple store and they cleaned out pocket lint from the charger jack. charges perfectly now. they warned me not to try to remove the lint myself - they use a special pick that is gentle on the internal charging components i guess. but this was a super simple fix!! try it out!

Whoa, somebody dug this old question up. Richdave’s answer is pretty much spot on. The DC port is soldered onto the logic board. Replacements are available at places like this.. Take a look at this teardown for more information on how to get to the part.

I had this exact problem with my iPhone 6. I actually found that a small amount of pressured canned air (in my case for example, Memorex Air Duster) cleaned out the lint no problem and my phone charges fine now, regardless of angle.

Just wanted to come on here and say thank you to everyone that posted about lint being the problem. I have lived with my phone only charging with the charger pulled to one angle for over a year. I dug out the charging port with the end of a small paperclip and viola, charges at all angles every time. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Thank you! Totally lint or at least dust in my Galaxy S7. I was about to buy a new cable. A pin didn’t work, but blowing on the port and the charging cable plug cured the problem!

Im using an ipad mini, iv burnt through 6 wires and i still dont know, i use a normal ipad charger, the wires charge perfectly on my phone and the beginning on my ipad, after a while the wire stops working. I tried the lint thing, nothing and idk what to do
