Basically, I locked my phone using Assistive Touch. When I pressed my home button to check the lock screen my phone had completely turned off. I had a full battery and couldn’t quite understand why this happened. I had done a little research, and people just keep saying to press and hold the home and power button to reset. Well, this has worked in the past, but now my power button doesn’t work. This is no longer a solution. My phone just won’t turn on without my power button to reset it. I have also read that you gave advice to someone of the same issue saying to just plug it in. Well, I have plugged it in to the computer and to the wall for over 1 hour, and nothing has happened.
Try holding the home button and then connecting to USB on the computer. Have you checked to make sure the dock is clean? It may have a bit of paper etc. that’s stopping the charger/USB from making contact.
Hold down the power button with a sturdy non-scratching type of stick and press hard, wait few seconds until you see Apple logo……….power button needs to be replaced…….but why are we all having this issue?!? Poor quality product?

Guys, if your power button is broken you have to replace the power flex cable.

I’ve got a broken power (lock) button and Apple Store said there’s nothing they can do. If your iPhone has turned off (either low battery, damage or an automatic shut down to refresh) and your lock button is broken, there’s not much that can be done. There’s just a slight possibility that it might turn on by itself after hitting 5% or more. Connect it to a power source (Computer, Wall Plug, etc.) If this doesn’t work, your iPhone will have to be repaired (the lock button itself) but this is an expensive move. If it’s severe, there’s not much that anyone can do. If you turned your iPhone off by AssistiveTouch, I suggest you connect your iPhone to your Computer and go onto Apple Store, restore your General Settings from your iPhone (this can be done) and enable AssistiveTouch on your Computer. This could turn your iPhone back on. If this doesn’t work, then you won’t be able to use your iPhone.
I had the same problem. I left my iPhone 5 uncharged until my lock screen came up but when I put in my password to get in it said no sim card. so I did some research. then I found out that if you eject the sim card on the side with a paper clip then it will come out. after that just take it out and remove the card from the holder then put it back in then put the sim card back into the slot, turn on Wi-Fi, connect and there you have it!
I just bought a replacement screen and put it on and nothing is showing my power buttom doesnt work so I cant hard reset it but when I plug the phone into the computer no devices are found .. idk what to do
either your phone is broken, your cable is defective, or your charger has failed. Try different chargers and cables to isolate the problem. Or take all of them to an Apple store for diagnosis (make a genius bar appointment before going).
My problem is i can’t open my phone by pressing power button or home button. even can’t load my lockscreen. i was using my phone and it suddenly turn off and cant open back. i press the power button and home button at the same time. That resolved my problem.

I FOUND A SOLUTION!! (the paragraph bellow just explains my situation) I have an iPhone 5 with a lock button that doesn’t work. One day I woke up after a night of it charging and it turned on just fine. The next second, it turned off and wouldn’t come back on with the home button. So I plugged it in and nothing happened. Of course I couldn’t reset it because my lock button doesn’t work. So I decided to try something… I left my phone unplugged all day. And then all of a sudden the symbol to plug it in to charge appeared so I plugged it in and now its fine. p.s. the symbol came up right after I touched the screws on the bottom with a metal screw driver (not sure if that had any affect)
i held the power button for more than thirty seconds and it came on
I just kept clicking the power button, then holding it for 15 seconds and paying with the home and power button a lot and finally it came back on
my lock button is broken too and my phone shut down and wouldnt turn back on and i left my charger in for about half an hour ans it still wouldnt work BUT THEN i plugged it into my laptop and all of a sudden it turned on, it was really weird because my base charger thing was working since i started charging my ipad on it so i dont know.
I had the same problem guys… and I fixed it. My first advice is not to charge at all. Let it for at least two days and then the battery will drain off. Then if you charge again your i-phone will turn on, but you have to leave it until the battery drain off completelly. Personally, I replaced the power button in a certified place in my town, it costed 40euros and the button is new, so now if I have the same problem, I can reset with the known way… Power button and center button simultaneously.

I was having near exact same problem as you. I put my iPhone 5 into my pocket and then when I pulled it out to check the home screen it wouldn’t turn on. I looked up forums on how to help fix the problem and all of them said to try the “hard reset.” I couldn’t perform the hard reset because my lock button does not work. I scoured the internet and eventually chatted with apple support but to no avail. I tried plugging in the phone for over 2 hours and tried every method. BUT I left my phone alone overnight and I tried to turn it on the next morning but nothing happened. So I plugged in my phone to my charger whilst holding the home button (not sure if that matters) and voila it showed the low battery screen.
Try plugging your phone to the computer and open itunes and check for anything… or maybe you might’ve overcharged your phone like me.. and it worked :)
I hit the home button and the volume down button togther and held them until the applie symbol popped up.
nothing i try works i was just using it and then i went to look at the time and it wouldnt come on and my power buttons been broke and just yeah
let your iphone battery be low and then it will require charging it, so u charge it and it will open again

My iphone 5 screen won’t turn on and the lock button doesnt work, i connect it to my itunes and it tells me the battery is 0% and my music constantly plays but the phone won’t turn off for me to charge it
I also had the same problem but with my lock button not working for months now. Last night my screen went completely black & any of the buttons are working. Most of the suggestions I saw was press the lock&home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds, and it worked for some people but mine didn’t (because of my broken lock button). What I suggest is to completely drain your battery ( I left mine to drain for 11 hours) and what you do next is you plug the charger in your computer, if the low battery sign showed then ur saved. Now u just have to wait for the apple logo :)
it’s simply af if you cant switch your phone on, and you power button went down, you’ve just got to plug it into the computer Instantaneously you’ll figure it out, you’ll watch the Apple symbol into the screen
