My daughter dropped her phone (again) and this time the screen went black. It is slightly cracked but nothing major. I know the phone works since when I plug it into the computer it is detected, I can browse photos and 3Utools displays the background pictures and shows no issues. I ordered a new screen and replaced it but still no display. What could it be? Bad main board? Backlight?

If this were a backlight issue, you could theoretically still get image, although if i recall correctly, sometimes no backlight can present with no image on some phones. See if anything is visible if you shine a flashlight at the display. I would also double check that none of the flex cables on the new display are torn (particularly the lower one, closer to the edge of the phone). But if you have put a new display in, there are no visible tears and the issue is still the same, although it’s possible you got a bad screen, I would start think you’re looking at an issue with the board instead. There are a number of small components near the display connectors that could have been dislodged by a tool when the display cables were disconnected. Or something also could have been knocked off, or loose if the incident which caused the crack was substantial enough.

The screen wire is probably disconnected
