Hello I have been having this issue the past month. I have a PlayStation 4 that will randomly turn off as if somebody pulled the plug from it. When this happens I have to unplug everything from the PlayStation and wait 5-10 minutes. After this time I plug just the power cable in and cross my fingers that it boots. When it boots I can play for a little bit and then the cycle starts all over again. I have done a lot to fix this problem. The first time this happened it was on my older PlayStation. I had this PlayStation since launch and one of the first things I did was swap the 500gb hardrive for a 1tb one. It has worked perfectly until now. When the issue came up I swapped my 1tb drive to another playstation 4 I have. I was forced to initialize the drive and then I downloaded all of my game data from the cloud. My playstion worked for about a day and then the same issue began to happen. Any suggestions on how I fix this? Useful information -My PlayStation mainly turns off when I am in the middle of a game or just booting one up. -My playstion is connected to a power strip. It has been connected to the same power strip for years and the two other devices on the power strip work perfectly fine. -I swapped power cables more than once -I have loaded in safe mode multiple times. Changing the resolution, rebuilding the database, and updating the software has not fixed the problem
Sounds like power supply has overheated and needs to be replaced. That’s pretty much the case if it’s shutting down immediately without no warning.
