My sister accidentally plugged in my USB charger into USB port, is it repairable? Lenovo G50 laptop comes with a charger which has USB-like jack which you connect when charging the machine. That’s what was accidentally plugged in the USB port of the same machine. It immediately went off.
The power connector for Lenovo is about the size of a USB connector but there are enough differences to make it very hard to jam one into the other. Look at the ports, USB has 4 contacts and the power has a small square block in the middle that is the contact for power. If the power adapter was plugged into the USB then it could have shorted the port or damaged the system board. Check the USB port(s) for damage as well as the power connection for damage. The computer is repairable, you either have to find a place that will replace the system board or find a place that will sell you one that you can replace. It would be best to compare the cost of repair against the cost of replacement before doing either.
