The ports on the right side of my Early 2013 MBPr 15" have completely stopped working. After running a lot of diagnostics, I have determined that they are completely nonfunctional, in fact the computer doesn’t even recognize that they exist. I work at a College Book store and we are an Apple certified retailer, so my boss has access to the official Apple Diagnostics and after running a full gambit, the ports are completely unrecognized. I’m wondering two things…

  1. Is there any possible fix for this issue, I assume it’s a hardware issue.
  2. Is there a replacement for the I/O ports on just one side of the computer? Thank you, Alec Wheeler

The right USB and SD card are on a separate board on this model, and can be replaced easily. There is also an I/O cable which runs along from this board to the main logic board, which could be causing the issue. It is strange for all of these to just stop working, could be something related to the logic board, but I would say it is worth ordering the board and trying it out before spending lots of money on this (these boards cost about £20)

A. Put the SSD card in another machine and see if the issue persists. B. Start up in safe Mode and see if the issue persists C. Install and run an anti-virus D. Send the machine in for a “Flat Rate Repair”. Cost with shipping and tax will be about $357.
