Chosen Solution

Hi all - So, while I’m reading more and more about how the bus communicates with the SDXC slot on this PCIe 1.1 powered card slot, I’m wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to use the memory from the SDXC card as functioning system memory (DDR3 — which would normally be 8GB or 16GB for this model)??? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Sorry no. The difference is the way the system controller ‘sees’ this memory. It does not see it as RAM but non-volatile storage (HD/SSD). You can use it to extend your systems storage. Here’s one unit: SanDisk miniDrive. This card is shallow so it does not stick out.

I feel like it wouldn’t do much even if it is a possibility. Wouldn’t you be limited by the card’s bandwidth? we’re talking MB/s compared to GB/s
