Hi my home button was quite hard to press recently so I decided to get a new button and flex cable. I disassembled the phone fine (thanks to your easy guide). However when inserting the new flex cable into the retainer, the retainer poppd out. So the flex cable was attached to the retainer but the retainer was not attached to anything. Is there any way i can fix this, as the retainer cannot sit back where it used to be. Also, as expected, the home button didnt work.
You need to replace the Charging Port Assembly with the Dock Flex Cable. This part has the small clip for the Home Button Flex Cable to attach to. You need the Assembly for the correct iPhone 4, GSM vs CDMA.
