Hello everyone, I have a Oneplus X which has been repaired by Oneplus half a year ago for a broken motherboard (great repair, no complaints there). My battery however is degrading fast, and I want to replace it myself. Because the phone has already been opened to replace the motherboard, it does not come with the original glue. I suppose some sort of double sided adhesive tape has been used by the repair shop. Will this make opening the device now harder? Are there any attention points? I’m planning to use a heat gun. I put this in the general category of phones because this is not a Oneplus X-specific question. A lot of phones have to be disassembled in a similar way (glass backing glued to the phone), therefore I hope someone has any experience with this. :) Thanks for your answers! Best regards, Jeroen
You are correct. Most phones that have had the original factor adhesive separated have a double sided sticky tape used to re-close the phone. Depending on the tape and method, it can sometimes be much easier to open. I wouldn’t heat it more than 80C or so…you want it hot, but not too hot you can’t handle it afterwards. once you get your tool inserted, just be sure to work around any LCD, Power or volume flex cables that may run close to the edges and take your time to avoid damage and you’ll get it :)
