Sorry to say most of these Ultra Books don’t have upgradable memory. Sadly this is the case here on this system. Here’s a review that explains the limits of this system mobiletechreview - Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A Touch Review Update Sorry to say the answer is still the same for the S301 model. The memory is not upgradable. Here’s a review with pictures of your system logic board ultrabookreview - Asus Vivobook S301 review.
The memory can be expanded to 8 GB.
Yes i just want to confirm this, I just put in an extra 4GB low voltage 1.35V DDR3 1600Mhz chip that i bought from crucial for my asus q301-la vivobook laptop. (did this 5 minutes ago!) First take off the screws on the back cover… Next use a credit card to pop open the back cover Next you will see a metal box on the side you can pop that right off and there is your memory slot Put the ram in and when you do it will be angled upward, push down on the ram gently and you will here the pins click to ensure your ram has been properly put in. Next before you put the screws back on turn on your laptop to ensure that your ram is working and go into system information in windows or “dmidecode” in linux and make sure that you see 8gb of ram. On a side note i have heard a few people put in an 8gb ram chip instead of a 4gb for a total of 12gb of ram and that it still works…i may try this later. Here is a video of a guy adding ram that may help you…its not the Q301LA but it will help get you started.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9v1SOen… Now if you are still unsure what ram to buy and you don’t mind paying a few dollars extra (around $10USD) you can order from Kingstom Ram in the UK which they state their ram is specifically for the ASUS Q301LA laptop. Here is that link… http://www.kingstonmemorycards.co.uk/lap… Hope this helps…and enjoy!
Yes, the Asus VivoBook Q301LA-BHI5T02 memory can be expanded from the onboard 4GB to 8GB. I have this model and have taken it apart to install a SSD. Inside, you will find a single expansion slot for a 4GB module, for a total of up to 8GB.
I am having an issue changing my RAM. i have a 4 GB stick (DDR3) ready to be put in. I took apart the back and found the spot to change it, after putting the laptop back together and attempting to turn it on, I got nothing but a dim lit black screen. Power button is white (as it normally is when computer is powered on) but no “Asus” opening screen came up. If anyone could assist me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
