Hey! Does anyone know how I can repair a stuck power button on my M1 MacBook Air? How does the click mechanism work? Would taking it out and putting it back in help? I don’t really want to work on my main machine before knowing if that’s even an option. The good thing is, that the power button still works but it’s very hard to press and sometimes it gets stuck so the machine is just looping. Looks like there is dust or something like that under the button, I’m not even sure how exactly it got there. I would appreciate any help on this. It’s making me crazy.

You can definitely take it out, which could help. The actual button is on the back side of the Touch ID sensor and it basically presses into a little shim in the top case to activate it. The process is much easier than on an Air than a MacBook Pro to get the button out. Take a look at this Guide for the details. There might be some crud that got in the little well the button sits in causing it to stick.
