I have an Early 2015 13” MacBook Pro Retina, that was working until I tried to disconnect the battery. I think I destroyed a part. Here are two pictures, one an overhead view of the circuit board, the other a photo of what I disconnected and apparently broke in the process. The question is can it be fixed or do I need a new battery entirely?

It looks like that is a tough connection to make. Way more complicated than my Mid-2015 15” MacBook Pro Retina. Interesting how radically different the layouts are designed. Thanks for any help, Greg Update (08/15/2021) Well, I now know that loose part isn’t part of the battery assembly. Maybe it interacts with the battery somehow, but I know you don’t remove it when replacing the battery. I absolutely shouldn’t have touched it, but I did. Should I direct this correspondence to tech support? Update (08/16/2021) Here are the latest pics. Like I said, my spudger scraped off a bit of coating of the black material.

You are very lucky! You’ll need to look around your bench for a small black plastic squared edged rod which pivots within the connector base to press down on the Keyboard ribbon cable MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Logic Board Replacement Review Step 27.

Carefully bow the bar so you can pop it back in. If you can’t find it let me know.
