My iMac 2008 24 inch died recently. I took it apart and found that many of the capacitors on the power supply was puffed up, and one had a brownish residue on top of it. Where can I get a replacemet part? Can I use a powersupply from a 2008 20’ inch iMac?

It will take some effort to locate one at a reasonable price and has the newer caps. Search for the Apple Part number 661-4478. Many suppliers want you to return the old supply so they can repair it. This is a 250w Power Supply The other direction if you’re up to it is just replace the caps your self I can only find the G5 kit but many of the caps are the same Witonics Capacitor Replacement Kit for Apple iMac G5 Power Supply 20 Inch FYI - Capacitor plague As far as using a 20” power supply they are physically different!
