I have an old 15" PowerBook G4 which I’m trying to get fixed up before I sell it. The problem basically consists of it having little or no battery power, and requiring a ‘SCOP’ (Shift, Ctrl, Option, Power) to reboot the PMU every time I want to run it from the AC adapter. How can I fix this? Is it a simple case of replacing the battery? Any advice would be much appreciated and I can elaborate on the problem if needs be.

  • Rob Edit - Someone on another forum has suggested replacing the PRAM battery… think that might help?

If you remove the battery, does the problem go away, i.e. with the battery removed, and the laptop connected to AC power, can you power on the laptop normally? If so, I think that answers the question. Is your PowerBook an aluminum (silver keys) or a Titanium (black keys)?
