Chosen Solution

I reset the pram, reset the PMU, cannot boot in single user mode, do not have reinstall disk. I have scoured the internet to find several people having the same problem, and have never come across a resolution. I believe it is some form of corrupted system files. Guess I will buy the OSX disk and see if that does the trick- my last viable option. Has anyone had this problem and actually resolved it? Thank you, CS

Try starting up in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key. Get an original system disk from Apple for $15

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1533 There’s a link to start-up combo keys. You could always try TechTool Pro or Disc Warrior. I am currently resolving an issue which is quite similar and so far it is looking good. iMac G5 runs so slow when boot from disc. But when the install is done I will find out it the format and install works. I will know in about 2-3 hours.
