My Pro gets very hot especially when plugged in on the same side underneath…Should I replace the fan and how do I know which fan to purchase…left or right? thx J

Probably one of two issues both dealing with the heat sink. First you can try replacing the thermal paste. Second is that the heat sink is liquid filled and can develop a leak (these get very hot), replace the heat sink. Look for an oily reside on the logic board around the crimped ends of the sink. This is pretty normal in my experience. The more resource heavy applications will make the laptop noticeably warmer. its fine unless its hot enough that it burns you, then you may want to check itout. and yes, the area around the charging port does get warm easily.
