I am having trouble syncing my iPod touch 4th. It is posible the problem might be the dock connector. Can i replace it ?
You can replace the dock, although it requires special tools and skill, and there is great danger that you completely ruin the iPod in the process. Besides, this issue could be caused by something else gone wrong. First, did you rule out the simple things?
- What is the problem? What do you mean by “having trouble syncing?” – Is iPod detected by iTunes when connected to your computer (the battery must be holding a charge for that to happen)? – Can you charge it from a wall charger? – Flash a light at the connector: does it look damaged/broken/rusted? Is something lodged in there that prevents the cable from being properly inserted? A/ If you answer YES to the above, let us know to try further trouble shooting this. B/ If you answer is NO to the above,
- Try a different known good cable;
- Power off the iPod, and use a soft tooth brush dipped in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol to clean the dock where the cable is inserted, then air dry, and test again with a known good cable. If nothing in B helps, let us know as well. We’ll take it from there.
