In the interest of extending the life of my PowerBook G4, I installed an 802.11b airport card. My issue has been accessing the existing wireless network, which is NetGear 54Mps 802.11b/g. It won’t see the network, and when I tell the preferences what network I am looking for it doesn’t go through. I figure the problem lies with the differences of the protocols. Does anyone have any insight into this issue? Thank you for your help Richard
Your problem may lie in the security protocol of the network. What Encryption type are you using? WEP? WPA? WPA2 Personal? Another thing, if your router has this option, make sure your router is set to “compatibility” or “legacy” mode, and not set to see just wireless G.
