Hi, I hope there is still someone here who can answer my question. I did all the steps, including checking if my SMC and EFI is up to date. Once I set up a location parameters, date and all after the install, I rebooted the computer with the disk already plugged in to SATA and my MacBook Pro doesn’t boot! I get a folder with the question mark on it. Any ideas? Thanks a lot. MacBook Pro late 2008 15" and trying to install fresh system on SSD drive.
Did you install the OS onto the correct drive? The blinking question mark is telling you the drive does not have the OS installed. You’ll need to connect your old drive externally so you can then boot up under it. Hold the Option key when you restart the system so you can select your HD. Then run the OS installer again making sure you’ve selected the new drive. Update (05/01/2017) Sorry I missed the fact you have an older system ;-{ What is the SSD make and model you have here? Remember this system only has a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) interface so the drive you are putting in needs to support this speed.
