hi im just wondering if you have to program THE NEW optical drive IN XBOX ONE LIKE THE OLD 360S THE TUTORIAL SHOWS THAT WE JUST SWAP THEM OUT BUT WILL GAMES WORK ON THE NEW DRIVE ?? i read that the drives are motherboard locked so how does this tutorial work ?? I also read that you have to swap out the board on the original drive to the new one in order for it to work but the tutorial does no such thing can someone shed some light on this thanks !!
You have to swap the daughterboard from the origianal optical drive that came with the console from the factory with the daugtherboard with the new drive you are going to install. Each optical drive daughterboard is married to the motherboard so it must stay with that motherboard even if the drive is swapped out. You will need to desolder the wires for the motor and solder them back on the replacement board.
