Replaced screen iphone 6, proximity sensor not working but front camera works fine, tried a restart but did not fix problem. Maybe loose cable?? Thanks for any help.

A few questions. Is the replacement screen a preassembled one meaning it came with the front camera, earpiece speaker and back metal plate preinstalled? If yes, it may be that the front camera assembly that came with the replacement screen may be faulty. If the front camera assembly was transferred from old screen to the new one, make sure that you have the plastic gasket that is glued on the old screen for the proximity sensor transferred to the new screen as that will affect the sensitivity of the proximity sensor. Without that gasket the proximity sensor may be weak and only work when you put your hand covering the top of your screen. To test proximity sensitivity you can cover top of your screen with your hand during a phone call. Screen should turn off. Also test by putting it near your ear. If it only turns off as intended by covering via hand but not easily by ear then the issue is probably the proximity sensor not being sensitive enough. I fixed this specific sensitivity issue by using a green permanent marker on the back of the screen glass specifically where the proximity sensor glass hole is. And lastly if it’s preassembled as said above try using the front camera assembly from the old screen if you have it still.
