Ive had my 60gb PS3, since xmas 2007, and today it shut off by itself while i was playing a game, and the red light just kept flashing, no other lights just the red, then i pressed it and went solid red, then i pressed it again and it switched on like nothing happend, is this the start of something bad??? Thanks

So it seems like you have a first gen PS3, which are notorious for overheating. Put your unit out somewhere where it can breath. I would also recommend blowing compressed air through all the vents to help parts stay cool. If you’re feeling so inclined, remove your top cover and clean parts even more thoroughly with compressed air than just blowing into vents. Unfortunately, overheating indicates that your PS3 may be on its way to getting the YLOD, but we have repair kits for that here as well as a guide here. BUT, let’s hope that keeping your unit cool will ward off this failure for as long as possible! Hope this helped out.

I just blew mine out after about 8 years and it was hilarious. There was a huge plume of dust. My ps3 works way better
