hi everyone my ps3 super slim wont read any disk when i put a disk in it makes a few click sounds then like a engine rev, i can tell i spins the disk i put in but not 360 what Im saying is it spins ones then stops and i does not show that the disk is in i do not know why its doing this but two days ago it work fine then today i turn it on and what do you know. oh and its only two years old i got it in late 2012 everything else works on the ps3 i just hate to buy a new one because im high ranks online in most of my games gta5 bf4 gt6 bo2 ect

It’s not the disc or the laser it’s the disc stopper what your gonna need to do is remove the back panel and by the door of your disc cover you’ll see a little plastic wing slide the cover back and there’s your problem lift up the little tab and insert a small pick or something what I did was I got a small plastic pick and cut it in a angle and made one side big and the other small and dipped it in super glue and placed it in and that’s it disc spins and now you can play. Now remember if wemon don’t find you handsome they’ll at least find you handy lol P.S for the PS3 super slim
turn it off, hold in the power button until it beeps once twice and then a 3rd time, take your finger off. then hold it in again you will here it beep once then a short time after a second beep and a short time after that two close beeps take your finger straight off, ur system will turn on it will give u a list starting with restart your system, go for rebuild data base hope this help, u can try them all if this doesnt work
I have found a cure! On my system everything but the optical drive worked fine, no overheating and good picture. But the optical drive eventually would not read discs! At first I had to put it on its side (opposite side to screw-in vertical stand) and keep it there. That’s ONE temporary fix..another that I soon discover when that eventually stopped working was MANUALLY SLIDING OPTICAL DRIVE TO LEFT POSITION BEOFRE STARUP. Found that it was very stiff and the motor wasn’t able to move optics to “read” position and where simply stuck in open!
So I have this ps3 for a year and it will spin the games and stuff I clean the disc and blowed in the plug in hole and I tried it again and it did the same thing.I have and old ps3 but I don’t want to buy a new one……..what do I do???
You can try a firmware reset, but this does not always solve the problem. My PS3 stopped taking and reading disks, it was dead. Now my disk goes in a continues to spin thanks to a donor drive, however this does not result in the disk being read. Being a PC technician the simple solution which has not been tried yet, is to replace the ribbon cable as over time the fine wires inside can degrade due to heat. (Everything has a lifespan) So I am going to try and find a new cable. I will let you readers know if this solves the problem.
My PS3 slim is also doing the double click when it’s trying to read a game. The PS3 stopped reading my WWE 2K14 and Skyrim saying that it could not read the Blu-ray content. So I put in Monopoly and it worked. It also plays WWE 2K13 still. However it now is at the stage of hit or miss. If I here the double click I know it won’t work regardless. It still plays DVD’s but not Blu-ray DVD’s. Gonna try the troubleshoot suggestion. I’ll let u know what happens.
lightning damaged ps3 super slim i thought it was just power supply problem then i replaced it it swithed on but now disk not spinning or reading not sure what could be the problem after 5mins of switching fan starts spining hard and making noise any diagnostics
my ps 3 plays only standing up vertical and only plays SOME discs now it cycles once or twice to read the game and then by magic it plays . it used to play flat for years now no help from sony at all
